A Cold One Among the Pack

Candra quickly moved and pryed Tates's hand from The doctor's wrist anf took the blood from the doc while Luke pulled the doc away. "Tates come on, just drink this" She said holding the bag to him

The doctor nodded, holding the bag out to him.

tates stared, reaching one hand out. The doctor smiled reassuringly, handing him the bag.

It suprised all of them when tates insted granned his wrist with the force of a vice grip- causing the doctor to cry out.

"Is that for him?" Candra asked wincing from the scent of his blood

Detrex frowned and walked over to tates, a bit hessident to do so. "Tates?" he asked softly, eyeing the fake blood.

His heart beat being so close made theboys hair stand on end. ge bit into his own hand, the smell of his blood hitting both of the wolves. he complained of the stale blood from women in heat? his blood smelt down right putrid- like it was decaying.

The doctor frowned. "Tates- if ou make yourself bleed youll only be hungrier." he said wisly, instinctivly drawing back some when the boys bright red edyes flashed and locked on him.

Candra winced hearing the crack of Tates's nose breaking and she got up stepping to the side for the doc

He stared at her foir a moment before hie head darted over to the doctor who stepped out of the trusk, leaving it running. His heart was racing, adrenaline pumping like crazy. in his hand he had a small bag of red liquid- much thicker looking than the fake blood tates was drinking.

Tates clamped a hand so hard over his mouth and nose candra could hear his nose break. He grimiced and hissed into his hand looking away and closing his eyes.

Candra looked back over her shoulder seeing and hearing the Doc's truck. She ignored the fake blood and kneeled infront of Tates again wiping the blood away from his mouth and looked up at him

tates body shuddered as he went to stand. He stoped with one knee still in the snow, heaving violently once more.

He opened his eyes, dizzily. he qas queezy- light headded. He was only vuegly aware, conchiously, of wat was appening. his body was rejecting the sinthetics.

It wasnt long after the docs green truck could be heard roaring over the snow, making its way faster than safty would permit in the snow twards them.

tates had stoped puking- insted now staring like a statue at the fake blood, panting and shaking.

Candra blinked and watched helplessly as he threw up again.

"Doc, get to the bar asap, your kids throwing up alot of that fake blood" Gabe said, his usual laid back tone was gone.

"Tates, your dads coming you'll be alright" Candra said, Look sat up and rubbed the back of his head, he was fine just taken by surprise

His eyes glew looking up at her, the fake blood covering his front now.

He winced , pulling away from her, vomiting up the fake blood again, knocking Luke away with the side of his arm. he'd used more force than he meant and knocked him downinto the snow.

Detrex answered his cell phone. "Emergency vet care." he said.

Candra paused and looked back Gabe was on the cell calling Detex and Luke was bent down by Tates. Candra ran over moving in fron of his, her hands lifting his face. The pills werent working? "Tates..." Candra whimpered

"..." he frowned and pulled his jacket tighter around him. "Ill see you tomorrow...." he said, looking down before walking off... he didnt eed an escourt.

He took about 10 steps before falling to his knees. He wcinced and wrapped his arm around his stomach, coughing violently.

He threw up- red staining the white snow around him, the two white pills nearly whole still amongst the fake blood.

"Thats fine, you did good just with holding back from your natural instincts so its fine" Gabe said. "Gabe, can I go home?" Candra asked. "Hm? Your not going to follow Tates back to the doc's?" Luke asked. "No...I dont want him to get a headache" Candra said turning and started to walk

tates blinked and cought the bottle, muttering a thanks. he opened it and took two pills out, swallowing them whole.

He frowned at the taste and put it away, looking to Gabe and LUke again. He felt... embarrased.

"... I think training should wait for another day..."

"Hm? Oh just a scratch it'll be gone in an hour or so" Gabe said looking at his hand and licked at it to clean the blood away. Just then Candra walked around from the back wairing her jeans and jacket, undone with a black shirt on undernieth. "You dropped this" She said throwing the pill case to Tates

He wiped his mouth. "If you haddnt..." he frowned, finaly removing his hand from gabe. "..... Sorry." he frowned, seeing he had indeed cut into his hand. The smell of his blood wasny quite human- it was more animal so it didnt cause as large an issue as the womans. Though he didn look away, looking for the pills he knew he must have put into his coat pocket.

"You look surprised" Gabe said with a chuckle. "Listen I just held you back and pulled you outside. The fact that you accepted the fake blood rather than tearing past me and Luke shows that you dont want to drink real blood. That you want to stick to what your used to right?" He asked

he snatched it from him andbit into the bottom side of it.

It would hurt his teeth later- but he needed tp bite something.

He drank it empty and pulled back taking in a deep gullp of air. He trembled, looking up at Gabe. Now he looked like a vanpire. fake blood running down his chin and neck, red eyes wide and blazing with fangs showing as he panted.

The doctor said he didnt hunt because he couldnt.

It didnt look like that was the case. In truth it looked more like he didnt hunt because he shouldnt.

Words didnt come to him when gabe praised him.

If gabe haddnt been there to pull him out of shock- he'd have fallen into a feeding frenzy.

Gabe didn't shy away when Tates was trying to claw his hand away. "That's it, your fine man" He said grabbing the flask for him and uncapped it. "Not bad...needs a little work but you did good Tates" Gabe said patting his back

His red eyes looked too big- maybe why people rlated vampires to bats.

He squirmed, digging at gabes hands with claws he haddnt had moment ago.

Once the shock from the cold air outside hit his skin though he froze.

He keps one hand on Gabes,his other trvled down to his chest, feling for his flask or pills. either would work.

He needed something. Somethign to stop the convulsing.

"Come on Tates" Luke said. Gabe saw the half breed make a move towards the human and grabbed the boys throat and helped Luke take him out of the bar. "It's alright chill Tates" Gabe said. "Breath" He said and closed the bar door

Luke might as well have been trying to move a mountain.

Tates just kept his eyes planted on the woman, his breathing becomming irratic.

When gabe moved the blood out of his line of vission he reacted, jerking away from luke quickly, making a rush for the woman.

Luke acted and grabbed Tates, looping his arms under the vampires and held him back while Gabe grabbed the woman's wrist and pulled her away. "You alright man?" Luke asked but had yet to let go. "Come one lets go outside and get some air" Luke said and kicked the door open letting a fresh gust of wind in

He blinked- about to protest when he paused, quickly closing his mouth.

"Ow." one of the women at the bar whined. "stupid glass- it bit me!"
"Oh- poor Marry." the one who had sat next to tates said taking her hand to inspect it. "Hm... Go ask that guy to get you a bandaid- looks like he works here." she said.

Tates was half way to the door when the woman grabbed his hand. He'd been going slow because it was as fast as he could bring himself to move away from the smell.

"Hey~." she held her hand up.

He turned his head and imediatly went ridgid- the womans bleeding hand only about an inch or so from his face.

His eyes were a bright red.

"Oh? Did he mention who it would be?" He asked. Just then Gabe walked in. "It'll be you" Gabe said. Luke blinked. "Yeah alright, are you going to man the bar then?" He asked. "Yeah, he seems most comfortable around you so I figured it'd be best you train him" Gabe said
